A West Allis man is now charged in two separate murders in Kenosha and Racine Counties, that happened within a month of each other.
Michael Cina, 39, appeared in court Monday on the Racine charges.
According to a criminal complaint, investigators say last September Cina shot and killed 37-year-old Jose Torres near 16th and Holmes in Racine.
Investigators found a video of the shooting that shows the victim shot by someone in a blue Ford Focus, and later learned that Cina drives a similar car.
"This scenario essentially amounts to an execution," said Chris Steenrod in court Monday, an assistant district attorney in Racine County.
Witnesses also told investigators that Cina confessed to the killing, saying he "dropped that dude in Racine" and that he did it "because he was a Latin King"
Less than a month earlier, Cina also allegedly shot and killed a father of three in Kenosha, who interrupted a robbery in progress at his neighbor's home.
A similar blue Ford Focus was seen in the area shortly after the crime happened, according to a criminal complaint. Police also found a glove at the scene with Cina's DNA.
"The state's asking for a $500,000 cash bond," said Steenrod. "Mr. Cina has a very violent criminal record."
According to the criminal complaint, Cina has been convicted of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, armed robbery, retail theft and operating a vehicle without consent, passenger.
The judge granted the $500,000 cash bond. Cina will be back in court on the Racine case in early November. His trial in Kenosha is set to begin in February.
