Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk tells the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram  it's the worst accident he's seen in 40 years of law enforcement.

He says it happened around 5 p.m. Saturday when a minivan either failed to yield or ran a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck.

One male and three females died at the scene. The Sheriff's Office identified the ones who were killed as 23-year-old Mikaila S. Toske, 21-year-old Raven A. Ellin and 36-year-old Jonathan J. Jorgensen, all of Eau Claire, and 46-year-old Kristine J. Kummer, of Medford.

Toske, Ellin and Jorgensen were passengers in a minivan driven that collided with a pickup truck in which Kummer was a passenger.

The five survivors, including the two drivers, were taken to Eau Claire hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
