4 Milwaukee-area stories that made us smile this week

With so much violence and sadness in the news this past week, we wanted to look back at four stories that made us feel good. Whether you missed them or just need another pick me up, here are four stories that reminded us that the world isn't such a dark place.

1. Flower shop's 'name game' brightens non-verbal little girl's Valentine's Day

A simple act of kindness can go a long way. Every Friday Melissa Mass, the owner of Bank of Flowers, posts two names on their Facebook page. When your name is picked you get a free bouquet of flowers, but the week of Valentine's Day a special girl walked into Bank of Flowers that reminded Mass why she created the game in the first place. 

2. Stranger donates kidney after seeing a Wisconsin mom's billboard

A Wisconsin mother bought a billboard hoping to find a kidney for her son.When she shared the picture on Facebook it caught the attention of a man 13 hours away, in Oklahoma, who he decided he needed to help. 

3. Milwaukee County bus driver helps woman with crutches cross the street

A women on crutches fell trying to cross a snowy road, but when a Milwaukee County bus driver caught it out of the corner of his eye, he pulled over to help. MCTS dash cam caught him and another passenger assisting the woman up and across the street

4. Sheboygan family brings Winter Olympics to their backyard

The Leibham family comes together to show some Olympic love. Sue and Ken Leibham have 13 kids, and 43 grandkids, and another on the way. To keep the family busy, they've created an Olympic winter wonderland in their backyard. The kids say the best part is hanging out with family and friends.
